Bacteria produce many gaseous compounds and that's the bad breath. Buy a tongue cleaner. You tongue is a breeding ground for bacteria. You should clean it out with a tongue cleaner twice a day; it will decrease the density of the bacteria in your mouth. With fewer bacteria, there will be less foul smelling odor. Drink lots of water. Drinking water is not only good for health but will also decrease the chances of bad breath. Water washes away food particles and bacteria. Since bacteria will grow on food, it will also decrease the density of the bacteria in your mouth. Use dental floss. The food particles trapped in your teeth are breeding grounds for bacteria. You want to floss regularly to get rid of the food particles trapped in your teeth. When you floss, be careful not to damage your gums. Chewing gum will stimulate your mouth into producing more saliva. Dry mouth is known to cause or worsen bad breath. That's why your breath smells bad when you first wake up in the morning. There is very little saliva production when you sleep and bacterial action builds up. Chewing gum is also great at masking the problem temporarily. Choose a gum that's free of sugar. Have mints on hand to quickly eliminate odor in the mouth for the important occasion.
